Where driver bata starts to escalate
Madurai is the first route in our set long enough to trip the bata escalation rules, and it is worth understanding because it is the line item people query most often.
There are two escalations, and they work differently. On a one-way drop, a sedan's bata steps from ₹400 to ₹600 once the trip passes 400 kilometres. Madurai at 456 kilometres is past it, so a drop here carries the higher figure. On a round trip, the escalation is by distance per day rather than by trip: past 500 kilometres a day, a ₹500 a day bata becomes ₹600. The practical upshot: a two-day round trip is not merely better value than two separate drops, its bata is lower too. Two drops carry ₹600 each; a two-day return carries ₹500 to ₹600 a day.
