Airport VIP pickups
Visiting directors, a delegation that should arrive in the quietest car in the fleet. Pre-booked SUV and MUV fare from Chennai airport is ₹1,200 – 2,500 all-in by zone, fixed at booking.
Toyota's hybrid MPV — the newest vehicle in the Innova family and the one almost nobody in Chennai publishes a rate for. Here are the slabs, the per-kilometre figure, and an honest read on when it is worth the step up from a Crysta and when it is not.
In short
An Innova Hycross in Chennai is ₹3,500 for 4 hr / 40 km, ₹5,500 for 8 hr / 100 km and ₹7,500 for 12 hr / 150 km, with ₹25–28 a kilometre beyond the package and ₹450 an extra hour. Outstation it is ₹25 a kilometre against a 300 km minimum, plus ₹800 driver bata a day.

The Hycross is sold on its own slab structure in Chennai — 100 km in the 8-hour package rather than 80, 150 in the 12-hour rather than 120 — so its columns do not line up with the Crysta and Innova. That is why the headline gap looks bigger than the effective one on a long city day.
| Vehicle | 4 hr / 40 km | 8 hr | 12 hr | Extra km | Extra hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Innova Hycross — 7+1, hybrid | ₹3,500 | ₹5,500 8 hr / 100 km | ₹7,500 12 hr / 150 km | ₹25–28 | ₹450 |
| Innova Crysta — 7+1 | ₹2,200–2,600 | ₹4,200–4,600 8 hr / 80 km | ₹5,600–6,400 12 hr / 120 km | ₹20–23 | ₹350–400 |
| Innova — 7+1 | ₹1,800–2,100 | ₹3,400–3,800 8 hr / 80 km | ₹4,600–5,200 12 hr / 120 km | ₹17–19 | ₹300 |
The Hycross is Toyota's newest people-mover, and it is a genuinely different machine from the Crysta it sits above rather than a facelift of it. The Crysta is a ladder-frame SUV — tough, tall and a little truck-like over broken road. The Hycross is a monocoque hybrid built more like a tall car: it rides flatter, the cabin is quieter at highway speed, and the self-charging hybrid drivetrain means it sips fuel crawling through Chennai traffic rather than drinking it. None of that adds a seat. It is still a 7+1.
So the honest guidance is this. If you need seven seats at the lowest sensible price, book the plain Innova. If you want the default Tamil Nadu outstation vehicle — proven, everywhere, easy to replace if something goes wrong — book the Crysta. Book the Hycross when the trip is long enough or important enough that the refinement matters: a half-day of airport runs for visiting directors, a highway haul where a quieter cabin is the difference between arriving fresh and arriving frayed, or a wedding where it is the couple's car. It is comfort and quiet you are buying, not capacity.
Because it is new, most Chennai fleets still quote it by phone and route you to a call. We publish it on the same terms as everything else: ₹3,500, ₹5,500 and ₹7,500 on the three slabs, ₹25 to ₹28 a kilometre beyond, ₹450 an extra hour. If the Hycross you are quoted elsewhere has no printed rate, that is the gap this page exists to close.
Round-trip rates against a per-day minimum, drop rates against a per-trip minimum, and the bata with each. The Hycross is the top of the Innova family on every line.
| Vehicle | Round trip per km | Round trip min/day | Bata per day | Drop per km | Drop minimum | Drop bata |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Innova Hycross — 7+1 | Quoted individually | 300 km | ₹800 | ₹25 | 300 km | ₹800 |
| Innova Crysta — 7+1 | ₹20–23 | 250–300 km | ₹700–800 | ₹21–26 | 250 km | ₹600–800 |
| Innova — 7+1 | ₹17–18 | 250–300 km | ₹600 | ₹19–21 | 250–300 km | ₹500–600 |
The Hycross carries a flat 300 km minimum on a one-way drop, which is higher than the Crysta's 250. On a long run it never bites — Chennai to Bangalore or Madurai is well past 300 kilometres either way. On a short drop it does: a one-way Hycross to Tirupati, which is only about 140 kilometres, is still billed at the 300 km floor, so ₹25 a kilometre works out to ₹7,500 plus ₹800 bata before tolls and the Andhra Pradesh permit.
That is not a trick, it is how premium single-vehicle supply is priced everywhere — but it is the kind of number that should be explained before you book, not discovered after. For short, high-value trips where the comfort is the point — an airport VIP run, a short corporate drop — the local 4 or 8 hour package is often the better buy than an outstation drop, because the package has no minimum-km floor and no bata at all. We will tell you which is cheaper for your exact trip rather than defaulting you to the dearer one.
Visiting directors, a delegation that should arrive in the quietest car in the fleet. Pre-booked SUV and MUV fare from Chennai airport is ₹1,200 – 2,500 all-in by zone, fixed at booking.
Where the hybrid earns its place — a quieter cabin and flatter ride over Tamil Nadu's patched highways. Outstation is ₹25 a kilometre against a 300 km daily minimum plus ₹800 bata.
The newest car for the couple, or a refined chauffeur-driven MUV for a visiting client. Decorated MUV hire in the Crysta and Carnival class runs ₹8,000 – 15,000 a day.
On its own slab structure: ₹3,500 for 4 hr / 40 km, ₹5,500 for 8 hr / 100 km and ₹7,500 for 12 hr / 150 km inside the city, with ₹25 to ₹28 a kilometre beyond the package and ₹450 for an extra hour. Note the Hycross slabs include more kilometres than the Crysta ones, so they are not directly comparable slab for slab.
₹25 a kilometre on a one-way drop against a 300 km minimum, with ₹800 driver bata. Round trips are quoted individually because the Hycross is still a thin-supply vehicle, but they also carry a 300 km per day minimum and ₹800 a day bata. That is the top of the Innova family — above the Crysta's ₹20 to ₹26.
For a short city day, rarely — the Crysta at ₹4,200 to ₹4,600 for 8 hr / 80 km does the same job. The Hycross earns its ₹5,500 on a long highway day: it is a hybrid, its monocoque body rides quieter and flatter than the Crysta's ladder frame, and the self-charging hybrid sips fuel in city traffic. It is comfort and refinement, not extra seats.
It is a 7+1 like the Crysta. With the captain-seat middle row you carry six in real comfort and seven at a push; six passengers with six suitcases travel well. Seven with full luggage does not fit one vehicle — for that a 12 to 14 seat tempo traveller is the honest answer, one vehicle and one driver's bata.
Yes. The pre-booked SUV and MUV band from Chennai airport is ₹1,200 to ₹2,500 all-in by zone, with the ₹150 to ₹250 night surcharge between midnight and 5 am. Your flight is tracked so a delay costs nothing, and the airport allows ten minutes free from entry to exit before car-park charges start.
Because it is a new vehicle and most fleets still run on Crysta economics, so operators route Hycross enquiries to a phone call. We publish the numbers — ₹3,500, ₹5,500 and ₹7,500 on the three slabs, ₹25 to ₹28 a kilometre beyond — for the same reason we publish everything else: a price you can read is a price you can trust.
On outstation trips yes — ₹800 per calendar day including the return day. On local 4, 8 or 12 hour packages inside Chennai there is no bata at all, and no driver may ask you for one. Tolls, parking and any hill or permit charge sit on top at actuals, with 5% GST as a separate invoice line.
Yes. A decorated MUV in the Crysta and Carnival class runs ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 a day including decoration, and the Hycross sits in that band as the newest option for the couple's car. The cleaning charge is stated up front rather than added afterward, and convoy pricing for the family fleet is quoted alongside.
Trip, dates, vehicle, passengers. A written all-in price on WhatsApp, usually inside 30 minutes, 6 am to 11 pm. Hycross supply is thin — booking a day or two ahead secures it.
